Week three in the Northern Ireland Women’s FA Leagues included news of the return of the Super Cup sponsored by Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Championship – Lisburn’s Kerry Taggart scored four times as St James Swifts were shot down 7-1, a score-line matched by Mid Ulster’s result against Comber Rec. Ballymena United came from behind to beat Belfast Celtic 3-1 with the aid of a Megan Henry brace, while Killen Rangers drew 2-2 at home to East Belfast.

Division 1 – Foyle Belles ended Ballymacash Rangers three-game winning start with a 3-0 reverse, two of those from Loren Smallwood. Portadown got off the mark with a 3-1 result at Crewe United, Megan Newell netting two. Coleraine’s 5-2 win over Armagh City included a double by Cerys Sharkey.

Division 2 – Banbridge Town edged St Oliver Plunkett 3-2, Carnmoney Athletic drew 1-1 with Belfast Swifts, Lisburn Rangers ran out 13-0 winners at Ballymena United Reserves.

Division 3 – Only one point separates to top three after Camlough Rovers just got the better of Shamrock 3-2, Ballynahinch netted nine against Moneyslane and Kilmore Rec hit double-figures when playing Banbridge Rangers. Elsewhere, Carnmoney and Belfast Ravens ended goalless.

Division 4 – Rosario went four points clear at the top from Ballymoney United who have three games in hand, Ambassadors scored 21 times against Belfast Ravens Reserves and Greenisland suffered their first defeat when sunk 7-0 by Antrim Rovers.

Division 5 – Lisburn Swifts lead the way following their defeat of Ballymoney United, Newhill now in second place following their 12-0 win over JM Ladies. Strabane Athletic’s 100% winning start to the season came to an end as they lost 0-1 to Craigavon City

PWC Supercup

Meanwhile, the NIWFA has confirmed the return of its Super Cup competition, together with a three-season sponsorship deal for the competition with Price Waterhouse Coopers. The PWC Supercup will see all teams enter at the first round stage, with the exception of Championship clubs who have byes until a latter stage.
