Goal report that Niko Kovac will attend Arsenal’s game against West Ham United on Monday night. Though the former Bayern coach insists he’s only in England to watch a few games on a break from football, Goal claim he really wants the Arsenal job.
The 48-year-old’s representatives have reportedly made contact with the Gunners to express his interest.
Obviously, that doesn’t necessarily mean the Gunners will want to bring him in. A keenness to take over and the fact he’s available immediately are big positives. Still, he’s not one of the favourites for the job right now.
Kovac certainly won a lot of games with Bayern Munich. He racked up a 69% win rate and lifted three trophies in just over a year. That’s what you expect from Bayern though, and he ultimately left them unexpectedly off the pace in the Bundesliga.
As enjoyable as the 7-2 win over Spurs was, it was largely down to individual brilliance. Serge Gnabry brought out the best finishing of his career, and he wasn’t the only one. Everything seemed to go in that day.
Whether he’s the man for the job is a decision for someone who watches a lot more of the Bundesliga than I do.
