Although Bayern host Ajax in a Champions League group-stage fixture on Tuesday, Kovač is only focused on Bayern’s success in Berlin.
“We want to succeed in Berlin where we failed on Tuesday,” said Niko Kovač.
“It’s always nice to go home. We’re staying overnight and I have a few relatives and friends there who I’ll meet after the game.”
“They’ve played some very good football, I’ve been very impressed,” he said.
“They’re a technically adept, disciplined team who try to win their home games, so it will be a real test tomorrow. We need to be at 100 per cent again.”
Jérôme Boateng, who is also returning to his home city, believes Hertha are a strong side as well.
“They’re very compact, strong in the tackle, aggressive, but obviously we now want to get back to winning ways.”
