Niklas Süle reportedly frozen out due to weight concerns | OneFootball

Many people were surprised when Niklas Süle was not named in Bayern’s matchday squad for their draw with Werder Bremen on Saturday.

Although he has had his recent injury problems, no fresh issue was documented prior to kick-off.

But Bild now report that the reason for him being out is due to coach Hansi Flick’s concerns with the player’s physical fitness.

It more specifically relates to the defender’s weight, with the Bayern coaching staff believing Süle is currently a little out of shape in that regard.

Bayern stated that the official reason for his absence on Saturday was a ‘training deficit’.

Flick will now apparently seek a one-on-one discussion with the player in order to resolve the situation and get him back in the side.

Without Süle, the German champions surprisingly slipped up and drew 1-1 with Florian Kohfeldt’s men.
