Super-sports-brand Nike have unveiled the new official collection for Nigeriaâs national team ahead of their World Cup campaign and itâs a thing of uncontested beauty.
On Wednesday afternoon, Nike released a video that features several star players from Nigeriaâs national team catching a first glimpse of their new attire.
The sideâs home shirt features the nationâs famous dark green with a neon logo, whilst the away kit features a zig-zag patterned neon and white design on the body with dark chevrons on a white background for the sleeves.
âI can see the players going crazy over this one,â John Obi Mikel can be heard saying in the video.
The away kit pays homage to the iconic shirts worn by Nigeria during their first World Cup campaign in USAâ94.
âA constant in Nigeria is an endearing love of football,â commented NFF President Amaju Pinnick. âWhen football is on, everything stops. The new Nike kit designs honour our federationâs rich traditions. Moreover, they celebrate everything we relish about our culture.â
âWith Nigeria, we wanted to tap into the attitude of the nation,â added Dan Farron, Nike Football Design Director. âWe built this kit and collection based on the playersâ full identities.
âWe started to see trends in attitude and energy connecting the athletes to music, fashion and more. They are part of a resoundingly cool culture.â
