Nike are making Harry Kane wait on a new boot deal in order to sign Erling Haaland back to the brand.

Kane has long been a featured Nike athlete, wearing their boots and appearing in advertisements for them. After scoring his 100th Premier League goal back in 2018, Nike even launched a special pair of golden boots to commemorate the milestone.

The Telegraph report that while Nike are likely to renew Kane's contract after this winter's World Cup, their current priority is tying down rival scoring sensation Haaland.

The Norwegian striker has multiple offers from top brands on the table, and Nike are planning accordingly in order to secure his signature, adjusting their budgets with his potential signing in mind.

Haaland's previous deal with Nike expired and he has since worn different brands of boots this season. While he has continued to wear Nike on occasion, he has also donned boots made by rivals adidas and Puma.

The 'fascination' around and his footballing abilities are seen as huge pluses for his personal brand, and this hype has been compared to that surrounding Paul Pogba and David Beckham in years gone by.

remains one of the top footballers on Nike's books, but sports brands are notably cutting back on deals due to the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

The duo will likely compete for the Premier League Golden Boot this season - Haaland currently has 11 goals with Manchester City, while Kane has six with Tottenham.
