It was a night of unfortunate events for Christophe Galtier’s PSG side and the aftermath is unfortunate for the leaders despite the win.

The visitors initially had a brilliant chance to score from the penalty spot during the opening moment, but star-man Kylian Mbappé missed not once, but twice.

Injuries would then strike Galtier’s side as Mbappé left the pitch with an apparent hamstring injury and Sergio Ramos was also forced off.

It’s a negative sight for the club with Toulouse up next then three huge clashes after in the Coupe de France (Marseille), Ligue 1 (Monaco) and the Champions League (Bayern Munich).

VAR then frustrated PSG ruling out strikes from Lionel Messi and defender Achraf Hakimi who had scored a Goal of the Season contender.

Yet minutes after the misery, Fabian Ruiz (the player out of line earlier) bundled the ball home for the breakthrough handing PSG a huge sigh of relief.

The match then had a dramatic ending as Messi doubled things 2-0 with 15 minutes to go but Montpellier turned things back to a one-goal game through Amaud Nordin.

An unlikely name would then ease any PSG fears of another draw, as Warren Zaire-Emery ensured things finished 3-1 in the dying moments.

The result means PSG lead by five at the top, but will be worried about Mbappé and Ramos as key games loom.
