Saka is out of contract with Arsenal at the end of next season and fans are starting to get a bit jittery around the prospect of losing one of the best youngsters on the planet.

There are rumours that Borussia Dortmund want him to replace Jandon Sancho while a host of other clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool, seem to be bursting to get their hands on him.

While his club future is far from certain, the same could be said about his international future as well.

So far, Saka has represented England at u16, u17, u18 and u19 level and, as the second most-used teenager in the Premier League this season, a senior call-up seems on its way. However, he is also eligible to play for Nigeria through his Nigerian parents but that would require a switch of allegiance.

“We have good players in several positions but we are still open to having more. For players who have already represented another country it’s not easy to have them cleared to play for Nigeria,” manager, Gernot Rohr explained .

“However we don’t beg any player. If they want to play they should call me to indicate their interest like Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and Joe Aribo. It’s not the wise thing to beg them to play for Nigeria, we want players who are committed to making Nigerians happy,” he concluded.

Currently, Saka earns between £5k and £7k-a-week at Arsenal, a salary that most would be happy with but is peanuts in the Premier League. Only seven players have made more than the 29 first team appearances he’s managed for the club this season, with nobody making more than 33. In short, he has been as much of an ever-present in the side as any of the big names.
