Roma playmaker Nicolo Zaniolo has insisted constant transfer speculation linking him with a move away has never been a 'problem'.

90min reported throughout the summer that Tottenham, Juventus and later Chelsea were interested in signing Zaniolo, though a move never materialised.

Spurs in particular were keen on bringing in the Italy international, who is admired greatly by countrymen head coach Antonio Conte and managing director of football Fabio Paratici.

The north Londoners made a loan bid with a purchase clause half of Roma's €50m asking price in August. This was swiftly knocked back and talks never really picked up again.

Zaniolo, who is returning from a dislocated shoulder, has revealed he is used to links with a move away but is focused on extending his career at Roma instead.

"It’s always nice when you’re able to return to the pitch, especially at this point in the season when the team is playing every three days and needs as many players available as possible," he said.

"For me the transfer rumours were never a problem. I am used to constantly being linked with other teams and then somehow I always end up staying.

"I would be happy to extend my contract with Roma, but it’s not up to me talk about it. I have professionals who do those things for me and Roma have [sporting director] Tiago Pinto."

After a bright start to the season, Roma have had a bit of a wobble recently, winning just two of their last five matches in all competitions.
