Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli has been hit with a seven-month ban after being embroiled in Serie A’s betting scandal.

The one-time Italy international was one of three players under investigation for alleged illegal gambling practices alongside, Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and Aston Villa’s Nicolò Zaniolo.

Fagioli became the first to discover his fate on Tuesday as the country’s football authority confirmed (FIGC) he will be disqualified from playing for up to seven months.

In total, the 22-year-old received a one-year ban but saw five months commuted to alternative punishments in addition to a €12,500 fine.

Part of that agreement will require him to undergo gambling addiction therapy for at least six months which will include a minimum of 10 public meetings.
