According to a report from L’Équipe, Nicolás Tagliafico (32) is considering re-joining Lyon despite his contract with the Rhône club expiring on 30th June 2025. The World Cup winner is now a free agent after his contract with OL expired, but the prospect of extending his time at the Groupama Stadium is not considered out of the question.
For Tagliafico to sign a new deal with Les Gones, it would have to be on reduced financial terms. The Argentine international was one of Lyon’s highest earners before his contract expired, and under new leadership, the 7-time Ligue 1 winners plan to operate with renewed financial stringency this summer, after narrowly avoiding relegation to Ligue 2 due to poor financial management.
The left-back has been linked with many clubs, including Roma and Everton, since his contract with OL expired. However, with the 32-year-old considering remaining at the Rhône club, his future could soon be known.
