If someone has been helped by the pandemic and the football break to recover, it is Colombian forward Nicolás Benedetti, who fortunately is already in the last phase of his rehab after rupturing his cruciate ligament and meniscus in his right knee.
Now, according to Juan Carlos Díaz, Benedetti has been stepping up his workload in training and could be available for selection in as little as two weeks.
It should be remembered that América initially reported that Benedetti’s recovery time would be six-to-nine months, so he is still over a month ahead of schedule.
At just 23 years old, Benedetti is far from the prime of his career and still has a lot to give América. He has only featured a total of 25 times since arriving from Deportivo Cali in January 2019, scoring six goals.
América will kick off their campaign tonight when they take on Pachuca. Their home opener will go down on Saturday when they host Xolos.
