Nicolás Castillo suffered an injury at the beginning of the year that ended up becoming a life-threatening thrombosis from which he, fortunately, managed to recover.
But even though his recovery has been better than expected, ‘Nico’ will not be able to return to the pitch in 2020.
Miguel Herrera confirmed that the Chilean will not be registered and will thus free a foreign spot on their roster, which will allow América to register another player.
Herrera also assured that ‘Nico’ will continue to belong to América so it is likely that if everything goes well, he will return for the 2021 Clausura.
Since his big-money move from Benfica in January 2019, Nico has barely been seen on the pitch, scoring nine goals in just 1,629 total minutes.
Nico remains under contract until summer 2022.
