After fracturing his fibula early in the season, Nico Castillo returned to bag two goals and an assist in América’s final four games of the season.
However, he was pulled mid-way through the second half of the Veracruz clash due to a small pain which ended up being a small muscle tear in his leg.
The original diagnosis was 21 days and, at the moment, Castillo is still set to miss out on next week’s Liguilla quarter-final first leg, where América will enter anywhere from a three seed to a six seed.
Santos Laguna have already clinched the number one seed for the Apertura play-offs.
However, Castillo will join the club in training during the next few days, so it is possible that the Chilean could join the substitutes’ bench.
Castillo is currently the only América player injured, though eight players have yet to return from the international break.
