When the news broke that Nico Castillo had suffered a thrombosis, fans in Mexico were put on high alert as they inevitably remember what happened to legendary Pachuca goalkeeper Miguel Calero.
Calero, after suffering from a similar situation, unfortunately, lost his life at age 41, just over a year after playing his last match.
Fortunately, Nico Castillo was taken care of immediately, but very delicate care is required for his complete improvement.
That’s why, according to multiple sources in Mexico, the Chile international will be off the pitch for at least an entire year.
Rubén Rodríguez of Fox Sports said: “It will be more complicated to rehabilitate the Chilean than previously thought: His doctor estimates he will be on anticoagulants for at least nine months, while not being able to train.
“In América, they will consider letting him train in 12 months if there are no complications.”
We wish Nico all the best in his recovery.
