Nice’s Andy Delort skips training amid Nantes transfer link

OGC Nice striker Andy Delort appears to be his way out of the French Riviera club, with the Algerian forward skipping this Wednesday’s training session with Les Aiglons. Nice’s interim manager Didier Digard gave a two-day break to his players following their goalless away draw at Reims, but Delort was nowhere to be seen at Nice’s training centre, Nice-Matin are reporting. His unwarranted absence exposes him to a fine.

The 31-year-old striker is playing a peripheral role with the INEOS-owned Nice, but has still managed to bag six goals this season. FC Nantes are currently leading the race for his signing, but Nice won’t sanction his exit before finding his replacement, who may very well be FC Lorient’s Terem Moffi (23). The Nigerian forward is Ligue 1’s second best goalscorer with twelve strikes, and Nice have made their interest known. Delort has already agreed to join the Loire-Atlantique outfit but is still awaiting an agreement between Nice and Nantes. The former Montpellier posted a not-so-subtle message on Instagram – a picture of himself alongside former teammate Florent Mollet, who just signed for Nantes.
