The Dane is confident he can lead a normal life with the right treatment: "Dear fans, this week I received some results on a medical test and it turns out that I have diabetes [type] 1.

"Of course, the news came as a surprise, but I am honestly relieved to finally have discovered the reason, for feeling a bit off the last couple of weeks.

"Also I'm extremely happy that the doctors could tell me that with the right treatment, it will have no effect on my football career!

"I've been training the whole week, and I already feel a lot better.

"To get used to the small treatment, I decided together with Kasper Hjulmand, that I will not be playing for the national team this week.

"In addition to this, I would like [to] thank the club and the Danish federation for the support and understanding regarding the situation.

"Thank you! See you soon."
