Nice close to agreeing terms with Franck Haise to become their next manager

OGC Nice’s search for a replacement for Francesco Farioli looks to have picked up speed in recent days as the southern side pushes hard to acquire the signature of Franck Haise.

The RC Lens manager has admitted that he has come to the end of a cycle at Lens, and would be open to a new opportunity. This has seen him linked with a role at Olympique de Marseille, but he is acutely aware of the fact that he is not the priority in La Provence.

This is not the case in the Riviera where L’Équipe reports that Nice appreciate his distinct and intense playing style as well as his ability to provide opportunities for academy products to take their first steps into the professional game. The latter point has been an aspect that the club believes has been underutilised for some years.

There still remain a few issues facing Nice from signing Haise. Regardless of what the manager believes about his time coming to an end at Lens, he still has a contract at the club for the next three years, and relations between Lens and Nice have been far from cordial since Florent Ghisolfi led a small exodus to the south coast. Lens took Nice to court over Ghisolfi’s exit, and whether they would be keen to see their manager take the same journey will have to be seen.

Previously, Nice had thought about Bruno Génésio in the role but are believed to be put off by certain complexities. Namely his salary demands and the competition they face from Lille OSC and a Saudi Arabian club over his signature. However, the French paper writes that there are still those within the club who are strongly in favour of a move for the former Stade Rennais manager.
