Dante will turn 40 in October, however, speaking ahead of the first game of the season, the OGC Nice captain said that he isn’t going into the upcoming season with retirement on his mind.
The Brazilian defender is now entering his eighth season with Les Aiglons, however, he says that he feels as good as ever. New manager Francesco Farioli has confirmed that Dante will wear the armband this campaign, whilst Khéphren Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo, both linked with departures this summer, have been nominated as vice-captains.
“It’s true that I’m going into my eighth season. Is that a lot? Yes and no. More than anything it’s great,” began the former Bayern Munich centre-back.
“I am very proud of proving that I can continue. I am not starting this season as if it’s my last. I want to have fun and help my teammates progress. I’ll make a decision after (the season). I feel even better than in other years,” added Dante in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.
