It wasn’t so long ago that we were really writing off N’Golo’s chances of remaining a Chelsea player beyond this season, but that’s all rather changing now.

With his contract expiring at the end of this season and a movement at the club to get younger across the board, it felt like a natural break point for Kante and Chelsea. He appears to have interest from elsewhere, despite his medical troubles of the last two years. But the last few weeks have seen a big change in the messaging coming from his camp to “insiders” like Fabrizio Romano.

Romano reported today that the situation is “open again” between the midfielder and the club because Kante they’re speaking on “different terms” – i.e. Kante has accepted he won’t be among the club’s best paid anymore.

If that’s true, we can certainly see him sticking around a little longer – he’s a great influence to the younger players and still performs when he can actually get on the pitch.
