N’Golo Kante has just left the field injured for Chelsea after suffering what looks like a bad hamstring injury midway through the second half against Tottenham.
It’s the latest in a really painful string of problems for Kante, whose body is gradually failing him as the years pass. He’s 31 now, and the issues are really coming thick and fast, every season. It also takes him longer to recover each time he’s out.
The only bright spot from this is the fact that Conor Gallagher is now on the pitch, and will likely step up and start some games in the weeks and months to come, depending on how severe the problem Kante has suffered is.
It also steps Carney Chukwuemeka up the depth chart, especially with Mateo Kovacic out at the moment.
On the other hand, it may well be the moment that pushes the board towards another midfield signing instead.
