N'Golo Kante has rejected a new contract offer from Chelsea.

The France midfielder is inside the final year of his current deal.

The Athletic reports Chelsea have made a two-year contract offer with a 12 month option - which Kante has rejected.

The midfielder, 31, wants to stay with Stamford Bridge, but is insisting on a longer deal.

Kante's counter proposal is for three years plus a one-year option.

Two clubs in the Premier League and one in Germany, France and Spain are following the situation closely.
