Neymar is the silkiest baller of his generation.

It’s not a topic that’s up for debate really. Ever since his days as a teenager on the beaches of Brazil, Neymar has been known to European football fans for his quick feet and samba moves.

In many ways, he was and has been Ronaldinho’s heir. Bursting onto the scene at around the same moment that the famous icon bowed out.

However, whilst Ronaldinho will always be world famous and at his peak probably had the edge over Neymar, there’s certainly an argument to suggest his successor has enjoyed the more successful career.

Neymar’s career so far

Neymar made his dream switch to Barcelona in 2013 for a fee of around £79 million.

In Catalunya, he linked up with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, where the iconic ‘MSN’ trio wreaked havoc across the La Liga and the European scene throughout the following four seasons.

Whilst the Brazilian was undoubtedly operating in the shadow of the great Messi, he still racked up some outrageous numbers for Barcelona.

Across his four seasons at the club he scored 105 goals and assisted a further 76 in just 186 games. Not bad going, ey?

His flashy playing style combined with the obscene numbers he was posting, eventually drew comparisons between him and Messi in the public eye. An issue which would force Neymar to make a world record switch to Paris-Saint Germain.

It’s here where most people suggest Neymar’s career began to go downhill, but in fact his goal to game ratio is even better in Paris.

A mighty 100 goals and 60 assists means he averages more than one goal contribution per game – an impressive feat for any player.

And when you consider his Brazil record, well, he’s the best they’ve ever had by those metrics, simple as.

So, when you’ve got a player that has been so incredibly successful in all facets of his game and at the same time is like poetry in motion to watch play, why not just sit back and enjoy him whilst he’s here?

That’s exactly what this compilation video has set out to do and it’s gone viral across Twitter.

Sit back and enjoy one of the greatest players of his generation.

What. A. Player.

Neymar has scored 74 goals for Brazil which puts him just three behind the mighty Pele’s record.

If he can surpass that tally whilst leading the Selecao to World Cup glory in Qatar, maybe then people will sit up and recognise this man for what he is.

One of the best.
