The opening half of the 2019-2020 season for Paris Saint-Germain was certainly filled with plenty of drama off the field. For one, Neymar was in the rumor mull over a possible return to Barcelona in the 2019 summer transfer window. The Brazilian international stayed put in the end, but PSG supporters certainly let the forward know on what they felt about the transfer saga in his first match of the season at the Parc des Princes.

For one, Neymar was booed plenty of times during PSG’s Ligue 1 home fixture against Strasbourg, although he wound up scoring the game-winning goal in the late stages of the match.

In speaking during his Netflix docuseries “Neymar: The Perfect Chaos,” the Brazilian forward reflected on just what it felt to be booed by the home fans at the Parc des Princes.

“At first, I couldn’t believe it,” Neymar said. “Whenever I touched the ball, I was booed. To be honest, I like this climate. Whenever people are rooting against me, I believe in myself. I can do it, I will do it.”

The boos and whistles later went away, as he went on to lead PSG to Ligue 1 triumph and an appearance in the UEFA Champions League final over the season.

Neymar is currently aiming to help PSG return to the Champions League final this season.
