Neymar had his first major moment since returning to Brazilian football at the beginning of 2025 after playing the full 90 minutes against Flamengo and scoring the winner for Santos.
That strike was Neymar's first in the Brasileirão after 12 years – more precisely 12 years, seven months and 15 days.
Neymar's last goal in the Brazilian league came in the derby against Palmeiras, on the last matchday of the Brasileirão, on 1 December 2012. Neymar scored two goals and made an assist in that game, which ended with Santos winning 3-1.
Last night against Flamengo, Neymar received the ball from Guilherme in the 84th minute. The former Barcelona man turned his defender and managed to find space to finish past goalkeeper Agustín Rossi.
"For me, [Flamengo] are the best team in the league," the 33-year-old said after the game.
"It's very difficult to play against a team like that, but we've shown that we can go much further than we are at the moment. It's a new start for all of us. We've had time to work, we've shown that we can play against any team in the league."
