It’s hard to believe that Barcelona’s unbelievable comeback against PSG was just two-and-a-half years ago.
Down 4-0 after a shambolic first-leg in Paris, Barcelona stunned the football world by winning the second leg 6-1, scoring three goals in the final seven minutes of the match to send them to the Champions League quarter-finals.
In an interview with DAZN, Neymar revealed that he actually promised his friends that he would bag a brace and help guide his side to one of the most famous wins of all-time.
“Two of my friends said that PSG had a great team – and they did – and that they had already qualified, this and that…
“But I got up and said: ‘You are my friends, you work with me, but it seems you don’t believe we can turn this game around. We will reverse this situation, and I promise you two goals’.”
Neymar delivered with an incredible 88th-minute free-kick before converting from the spot three minutes later to make it 5-5 on aggregate, with Barcelona still needing a goal to advance.
Of course, Sergi Roberto then completed the historic comeback with a 95th-minute winner, sending Camp Nou into absolute pandemonium and leaving all of us with memories we will never forget.
