Neymar’s altercation with a supporter following Paris Saint-Germain’s loss to Rennes could prove very costly for the forward.

In the wake of PSG’s stunning collapse and defeat against Rennes in the Coupe de France final, the Brazilian struck out at a fan in the stand.

The incident was captured on video and could result in a lengthy suspension, according to L’Equipe.

If it is determined that Neymar intended to strike the fan, then the disciplinary committee could hand him a five-game ban.

However, if he is found guilty of a more serious violent conduct offence, he could receive a suspension of eight matches.

The report does indicate that Neymar could receive the ‘lighter’ punishment of three or four games due to the mitigating factors.

It would need to be taken into account that the supporter did provoke the former Barcelona man, as well as the severity of the blow, or lack of it in this case.

The French Football Federation are set to convene on Thursday to discuss the incident.
