Neymar has pulled out of new contract talks with PSG.

L'Equipe via Sport says the Brazil attacker has frozen negotiations with PSG in the hope of engineering a return to Barcelona.

Neymar wants to play again with Lionel Messi and is hoping the election of Joan Laporta as president can help pave the way for a sensational return.

At the very least, the 'feeling' that was not there with former president Josep Maria Bartomeu does exist now - and so Neymar is excited again about the idea of returning to the Catalan capital.

The prime motivation for Neymar is the chance to play again with Messi. The pair have maintained contact since the Brazilian controversially left Barca for PSG in a world record €222m transfer in 2017.

At one stage this season, it appeared it would be Messi, with his contract expiring in June, who would be leaving Barca to join Neymar in Paris. However, the election of Laporta as president and the hopes of getting the club back on track has the Argentine now leaning towards signing a new deal and staying at the Nou Camp.

Instead, it is Neymar now pulling back from negotiations over a new deal.

With his contract to expire in 2022, PSG find themselves in a position where they may be forced to sell this summer in order to avoid losing the attacker for nothing in a year's time.
