Erik ten Hag has endured a disappointing second season at Man Utd which has led to speculation around whether the club’s new part owners could opt to make a change in the dugout this summer.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team have already made several changes at the club, including bringing in a new sporting director and CEO, so could a change of manager also be on the cards given this season’s shortcomings?

Here are the leading candidates to replace ten Hag, according to the odds by Sky Bet…

Thomas Tuchel 2/1

The Bayern Munich head coach is leaving the club at the end of the season following a disappointing league campaign which has seen them fail to win the Bundesliga. He could still leave on a high, however, by winning the Champions League, and the German’s experience of already managing some of the biggest clubs in the world, and winning silverware with them too, makes him an obvious candidate should United opt for a change.

Gareth Southgate 3/1

The current England boss could be set for his last tournament in charge of the Three Lions this summer. Southgate’s current deal expires in December of this year and he has yet to make a decision on his future, and his links to incoming United sporting director Dan Ashworth, who previously worked with Southgate during his time at the FA, has fuelled speculation that Southgate could be the next manager in charge at Old Trafford.

He has overseen a big rebuild with England, moving out the likes of Joe Hart and Wayne Rooney when he first arrived and giving opportunities to young players, meaning he could be well suited to the task United are facing.

Graham Potter 5/1

The Englishman has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea last year. Not all too long ago he was perhaps the most sought after young manager in the game following his stellar work at Brighton but a poor spell in west London has seen his stock fall. United would be an enormous job to return to but like Southgate, he also worked with Ashworth during his time with Brighton.

Roberto De Zerbi 11/1

The man who replaced Potter after his departure for Chelsea, De Zerbi has won plaudits for his bold style of play at Brighton and his achievements with the club last season, finishing sixth in the Premier League and qualifying for the Europa League. This season has not matched the heights of the previous campaign following the departures of some key players last summer but the Italian has proven he can implement his style of play quickly and efficiently.

Zinedine Zidane 11/1

The legendary Frenchman has not held a management job since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, where he won two league titles and three Champions League trophies across two spells. His name and pedigree speaks for itself but whether he is keen on a return to management with another club is unclear.

Others: Julian Nagelsmann (12/1), Unai Emery (16/1), Julen Lopetegui (20/1), Kieran McKenna (20/1), Ruben Amorim (20/1), Thomas Frank (20/1)
