With Ralf Rangnick, Roberto De Zerbi and Roger Schmidt, FC Bayern have suffered three setbacks in their search for a coach this week alone. According to the latest reports, the Munich club has now received the next rejection.

Reports recently made the rounds that Bayern had made contact with Julen Lopetegui. The Spaniard became the focus of Munich’s attention following the cancellation of Ralf Rangnick.

According to BILD, Max Eberl phoned the management of the out-of-team coach this week to express Bayern’s interest.

However, theSüddeutsche Zeitung reports that the Spaniard will not be taking over from Thomas Tuchel at the German record champions. The reason: he has no desire to work for FC Bayern.

Lopetegui wants to return to England

According to the newspaper, Lopetegui is currently negotiating with West Ham United and is in advanced talks. The former Spanish national team coach is therefore aiming to return to the Premier League, where he was under contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers until the beginning of the year.

According to SZ information, Lopetegui is not considering a possible move to FC Bayern.

According to sources close to the coach, he was in close contact with Bayern some time ago. According to rumours, Lopetegui was an issue at Säbener Straße following the dismissal of Julian Nagelsmann. However, there were never any concrete negotiations after Bayern’s most recent enquiry.

The list of candidates is therefore getting thinner and thinner. Alongside Lopetegui, Erik ten Hag was recently considered a possible candidate. The Dutchman is currently under contract at Manchester United, but could leave the club in the summer. Ten Hag can imagine a return to FC Bayern in principle. Ten Hag coached Munich’s second team from 2013 to 2015.
