Bristol City attacker Shania Hayles says that the club are aiming to compete in every single game that they play this season.

The Robins were promoted back to the Barclays Women’s Super League at the end of last season, ending a two-year stay in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Bristol City will arguably start life back in the top flight as the relegation favourites but attacker Hayles says that the club aim to be competitive in every single game as they look to defy the odds.

“I think coming into the league, you always have that pressure on you to have to stay up but being an underdog is sometimes a good thing,” Hayles said when speaking to the WSL Press Pack.

“We come into it wanting to compete in the league, in every single game that we play, no matter who the opponent is. I think for us, it’s just about competing and playing the best football that we can and we don’t really listen to all that stuff around us.

“For us, we want Bristol City to stay where we belong which is in the WSL.”

Just hours after sealing their promotion back to the top flight, Bristol City received the support of the Club with the commitment to stage all of this season’s home league fixtures at Ashton Gate. Hayles believes that playing in front of bigger crowds at the Club’s main stadium will give the team a massive boost.

She said “I think playing all of our games at Ashton Gate this year is a big thing. We played a few games there last season, that was where we always got our biggest crowd. I think we need to keep building on getting as bigger crowds as possible to support us because the fans do really help when we’re trying to get results.

“The pitch is nice, so you can’t complain, there can be no excuses. Going up in the league and playing in the (main) stadium week in, week out, I think everyone’s excited to do that.”
