Brentford have rejected a £25m bid from Newcastle United for forward Yoane Wissa, with the West London club reportedly holding out for a fee in excess of £40m, according to reports from the Telegraph.
Wissa, 28, has attracted significant interest following another strong season in the Premier League, where his pace, versatility, and attacking threat have made him a key figure for the Bees. Newcastle’s opening offer falls well short of Brentford’s valuation, and talks between the two clubs have yet to yield a breakthrough.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are looking to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for European competition this season. Manager Eddie Howe is believed to be a long-time admirer of Wissa’s dynamic style, but it remains to be seen whether the Magpies will return with an improved offer.
