Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe reportedly intends to give in-demand teenager Elliot Anderson an opportunity with the senior squad over the summer but another loan seems likely amid links to Nottingham Forest, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, and others.

EFL clubs are queueing up ahead of the upcoming window after Anderson’s breathtaking form on loan at Bristol Rovers, where he’s scored seven goals and provided three assists to aid their promotion push.

Forest, QPR, and Preston North End were all linked back in April (The Sunday Mirror 03/04) while a report from inews has indicated that Millwall, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, and West Brom are all interested.

The report has outlined Newcastle’s plans for Anderson over the summer, with Howe planning to give him an opportunity to impress as part of the senior squad – though another loan move is still likely.

Born in Whitley Bay, the 19-year-old is a product of the North East club’s academy system but has represented Scotland at age-group level.

Which club did Nottingham Forest sign these 24 players from in the 1990s?

The Verdict

It speaks volumes about just how highly rated Anderson is at Newcastle that Howe’s planning to give him a chance to impress amongst the senior squad in a summer in which the North East club are set to flex their newfound wealth.

He’s been outstanding since joining Rovers and a key reason why they could clinch automatic promotion on Saturday.

You’d imagine a loan move will still be the next step and the Premier League club aren’t going to be short of options.

In an ideal world, they’d want to send him to a club competing near the top of the Championship but one that can guarantee him minutes.

His name is going to be one we’ll hear a lot of during the upcoming window, you’d imagine.
