How both teams go into Newcastle vs Everton

The return of Champions League football to St. James’ Park seems to be on the cards after Newcastle have tasted only one loss from their last nine matches (seven wins and one draw) heading into the penultimate round of Premier League fixtures. European football was secured after the club ended its long wait for a major piece of domestic silverware when they defeated holders Liverpool in the League Cup final.

Eddie Howe’s men are firmly in the battle for a top-five spot, which guarantees a place in next season’s Champions League; they are currently in third place, but the gap to seventh-place Nottingham Forest is four points with two matches remaining.

David Moyes fulfilled his remit of staving off relegation after being installed as Everton boss for the second time earlier this year. A nine-game unbeaten run, in which they yielded four wins, proved to be enough, and recently the Toffees ended a three-match winless streak with success at Fulham, meaning the highest they can finish is 13th place, which they currently occupy.
