Sunderland were the visitors to Tyneside on Saturday, as the young Newcastle United stars took on their local rivals.
Newcastle United Under 18s up against their Mackem counterparts at Little Benton.
Trevan Sanusi spurning a good opportunity for Newcastle early in the contest but then on 12 minutes United took the lead.
Michael Mills and Sean Neave combining, before Mills hit the opener.
However, only a couple of minutes later, Sunderland levelling through Jaydon Jones.
Back then came Newcastle though and with 20 minutes gone, Mills got his and United’s second, to put the black and whites in front again.
Brayson then had a couple of great chances to double the lead but failed to convert the opportunities.
Just before the break though, things got even better for the home side.
Sean Neave set up Joe Brayson to put the Newcastle United Under 18s 3-1 up.
Finn Geragusian though pulled it back to 3-2 only 12 minutes into the second half and then with 25 minutes remaining, Liam Hunt made it 3-3.
This six goal derby thriller could have ended badly though, as the United keeper made a great save late on to tip a Sunderland effort around the post.
