Newcastle United will welcome Manchester City at St. James’ Park this Wednesday night as both sides look to get the better of each other in the third round of the EFL Cup. The Magpies secured a dominant 8-0 win away at Sheffield United recently. Similarly, Man City earned a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Eddie Howe will opt for a 4-3-3 formation and could instruct his men to make life difficult for the opposition and try to catch them off-guard on the counter.
Pep Guardiola will set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could ask his players to dominate possession of the ball and engineer a few clear-cut chances to win this contest.
Newcastle United
Harvey Barnes will be sidelined for this game because of a toe injury. Furthermore, Howe will be without the services of Joelinton, Joe Willock and Emil Krafth in midweek.

Newcastle United
Nick Pope would have to make a few big saves if Newcastle want to secure a good result this Wednesday night. The defensive performance of Sven Botman and Fabian Schar could go a long way in determining the fate of this contest.
