Tottenham a couple of half chances early on but otherwise Newcastle United bossing this.

Very capable defending allowing the visitors barely a sight of goal, then some superb football and moves for the goals, topped off with high quality finishing.

A massive bonus as well that the win came with a clean sheet.

Whoscored have included three Newcastle United stars from Saturday afternoon at St James’ Park, in their PL team of the week.

‘The whoscored ratings use data from every single Premier League match, over 200 raw statistics included in the automated calculation of a player’s rating, weighted according to their influence within the game.

Every event of importance is taken into account, with a positive or negative effect on ratings weighted in relation to its area on the pitch and its outcome.’

The Whoscored Premier League team of midweek:

Lukasz Fabianski (West Ham) – 8.02

Daniel Munoz (Crystal Palace) – 7.42

Fabian Schar (Newcastle) – 9.01

Newcastle centre-back Fabian Schar netted his fourth league goal of the season as the Magpies cruised past a poor Tottenham side at St James’ Park on Saturday. The Switzerland international, who headed home the hosts’ fourth goal of the afternoon three minutes from time, also made two tackles, four interceptions, five clearances, two blocks and one key pass, in what was his second highest rated performance of the season so far.

Jefferson Lerma (Crystal Palace) – 8.03

Tyrick Mitchell (Crystal Palace) – 8.13

Anthony Gordon (Newcastle) – 10.0

Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon became the sixth player to register a perfect WhoScored 10 rating in the Premier League this season after his performance against Tottenham on Saturday. The England international set up teammate Alexander Isak for the Magpies’ first goal of the afternoon, before doubling their lead just two minutes later. Gordon would then go on to provide the assist for Fabian Schar’s 87th-minute header, while he also made two successful dribbles and a whopping eight key passes.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea) – 10.0

Conor Gallagher (Chelsea) – 8.64

Jeremy Doku (Manchester City) – 9.41

Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea) – 9.42

Alexander Isak (Newcastle) – 8.83

Joining Gordon in our best XI is Newcastle teammate Alexander Isak, who netted in a sixth successive home Premier League match at the weekend. The Sweden international opened the scoring for the hosts after sitting down Spurs defender Micky van de Ven, before adding his second of the afternoon just six minutes into the second half. Isak also made one key pass and completed one dribble to help himself to a WhoScored rating of 8.83.
