Just been having a look at the Newcastle United squad ahead of Sunday.
Eddie Howe keeping his cards close to his chest, as usual.
However, things looking good from where I’m sitting.
This was always going to be a tough start to the season, those opening games, in terms of match fitness and availability for this Newcastle United squad.
This ridiculously early international break was for once, looking like a real positive for Eddie Howe.
Get players back from injury, get others properly match fit, get others free from suspension.
So here we are.
This could well be the kind of Newcastle United squad available for Eddie Howe on Sunday for the game at Wolves.
Goalkeepers
Nick Pope, Martin Dubravka
Right side of defence
Kieran Trippier, Tino Livramento, Fabian Schar, Emil Krafth
Left side of defence
Dan Burn, Lloyd Kelly, Lewis Hall, Matt Targett
Midfield
Bruno, Joelinton, Sandro Tonali, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock
Right wing
Miguel Almiron, Jacob Murphy
Left wing
Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes
Strikers
Alexander Isak, Callum Wilson, Will Osula
The only three set to be missing for sure are long-term injured Jamaal Lascelles, Sven Botman and Lewis Miley.
As I said earlier, Eddie Howe keeping his cards close to his chest but all the way along we have been told Callum Wilson expected back available after this international break.
Whilst Eddie Howe was positive after Willock’s initial scans after Forest, that later followed by media claims that the planned further scans had proved even better, with Joe Willock expected back playing this month.
Fabian Schar and Sandro Tonali now totally free from suspension and fully fit.
Whilst I have put players into certain categories above, Eddie Howe does of course have the option of playing Barnes or Gordon on the right, whilst Willock can play pretty much any position in terms of midfield and on the wings.
Yes, I know no guarantee that all of the above will be available BUT the situation for sure is better than before this international break. Great to see as well, so many in this Newcastle United impressing in the internationals this past week, the likes of Isak, Gordon, Hall, Osula, Dubravka, Tonali and so on. Plenty of them scoring goals and getting assists, as well as clean sheets.
