In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Newcastle United are showing interest in Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson. It is believed that the Magpies are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the English custodian this summer.

Henderson’s Growing Frustrations At Old Trafford This Season

Henderson is having a frustrating campaign in England as he has mostly found himself behind David de Gea in Man United’s pecking order. The Whitehaven-born talent has seen first-team action hard to come by at Manchester over the past ten months.

The 25-year-old has only appeared in three matches for the Red Devils this season, conceding three goals in the process across all competitions. His current contract at the Theatre of Dreams is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Still, it makes a lot of sense for Henderson to opt for a change of scenery this summer which could open the door for the Magpies to land him.

Is Henderson A Good Option For Newcastle United Head Coach Eddie Howe?

Henderson can be a solid presence in between the sticks when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. He is usually calm on the ball and has got decent reflexes that help pull off a few important saves at the back.

However, things have just not worked out for him at Manchester this season. There is no hiding the fact that the English sensation needs to earn regular playing minutes if he wants to get better in the coming seasons. Therefore, Newcastle could be an ideal destination for him as he will get a chance to feature regularly for them in top-flight football.

At 25, Henderson has still got a bright future ahead of him, so the Magpies will do well to get him on board during this summer transfer period. He would undoubtedly be an upgrade over Martin Dubravka at St. James’ Park and could help the Tyneside club push for a European place in the upcoming Premier League campaign. With all things considered, Henderson would be a decent option for Eddie Howe to pursue this summer.
