After the home match on Saturday against Watford, Newcastle then play Leeds away on the following Saturday (22 January).

However, with currently no scheduled match for 17 days after that Leeds game, the report saying Newcastle United will travel out to Saudi Arabia following the trip to Elland Road.

The Mail describe the trip as a warm weather training camp but also raise the possibility of some PR engagements. However, they say they haven’t heard of any plans for Eddie Howe and the NUFC playing squad to meet Mohammed bin Salman.

If this trip to Saudi Arabia has indeed now been organised, it would appear to confirm that Newcastle United won’t play either of their postponed games against Everton and Southampton, until after the transfer window has ended.

If that visit happens then we are looking at February at the very earliest for any rearranged game(s).

Plus, FA Cup fourth round weekend around Saturday 5 February is now ruled out, as despite Newcastle United freeing up that weekend with defeat to Cambridge, both Southampton and Everton eventually went through, the pair winning in extra time against lower league opposition.
