Ben Jacobs reports that Newcastle United are ready to submit an increased offer to RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko (22). The Premier League club opened with a €75m + €5m bid to sign the Slovenian forward, but are holding out for a higher bonus payment.
Sesko was absent from RB Leipzig’s friendly against Atalanta on Saturday afternoon following Newcastle United’s opening offer which was knocked back , but there is optimism that they can reach an agreement with the Bundesliga club.
According to Jacobs, the €75m does meet Leipzig’s valuation, but they are holding out for a higher fee in bonus payments.
Sesko has already informed his teammates that he expects to leave RB Leipzig this summer, while Manchester United are another club that are monitoring the player’s situation.
Newcastle are looking for a striker as the future of Alexander Isak is in the air as he looks to force a move to Liverpool. The Magpies tried to sign former Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké earlier this window, even submitting a bid for the 23-year-old. Not only was the bid rejected, but the Frenchman opted to move to Liverpool as well.
