And given the cash that will now be available to the Magpies, transfer rumours aplenty will now take hold.

The newest involves Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé, who is fast-approaching the end of his contract.

Dembélé is out of contract next summer, and Barcelona are said to be in talks to renew his deal.

But according to Foot Mercato, Newcastle are now offering him a signing bonus of €15million and a contract worth €15million per year should he sign for free next summer.

Dembélé has largely flattered to deceive during his time at the Camp Nou following his more than €100million arrival in 2017, struggling from a number of injury issues.

But faced with the prospect of losing the winger for nothing next summer, Barca are keen to tie him down to a new contract ahead of January, when he will be free to reach a pre-contract agreement with any club outside Spain.
