It has now been reported that Newcastle United have made an offer to buy Nordi Mukiele.

The versatile defender is a right-back who can also play centre-back and Newcastle United one of a number of clubs claimed to be trying to buy him this summer, with Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Beşiktas, Everton, Aston Villa and Eintracht Frankfurt also credited with interest.

Now Africa Foot report that Newcastle United have made an offer of €15m (approx £12.7m) for the defender.

Nordi Mukiele joined PSG from RB Leipzig for around £14m in 2022 and made 42 appearances in his first two seasons, an unused sub in both of the PSG Champions League matches in 2023.

Last season, Nordi Mukiele was on loan at Bundesliga runners-up Bayer Leverkusen and made 15 league appearances and started five Champions League matches, as well as four games in the domestic German cup competition.

Now aged 27 and with two years remaining on his contract, Africa Foot say that the defender has now been told he is no longer part of PSG’s plans and can move on this summer.

Nordi Mukiele comes from a Congolese family background but has one cap for France where he was born and grew up.

The 6ft 2 defender is a little older at age 27 than the usual Eddie Howe Newcastle United signing but certainly has a lot of Champions League experience. Nordi Mukiele has made 32 Champions League appearances so far in his career, as well as seven appearances in the Europa League.

As with all transfer stories/claims, it is a wait and see as to whether this one has any substance. With Eddie Howe and Newcastle United needing to add quantity as well as quality to their squad, on the face of it if Nordi Mukiele could be signed for around that figure (€15m/£12.7m) then he could be a decent addition for NUFC.
