Manchester United outcast Phil Jones could find a new home in north-east England come January.

According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United are on the lookout to build up a large portion of their roster and the 28-year-old centre-back could fill a slot.

Jones has recently been left out of the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 25-man Premier League squad and might be looking for a new club.

Despite having a contract expiry date of 2023, he only featured eight times for the club in the 2019/20 season.

The English defender failed to pen a move away from Old Trafford during the summer transfer window but the Telegraph reported he was on the radar for the Magpies, according to the Chronicle.

With the recent omission, Newcastle “are likely to reignite their interest” and the centre-back could help boost Steve Bruce’s side at the back.

He has 200 appearances in the Premier League along with 22 in the Champions League.
