Newcastle United beat Nottingham Forest in the FA Women’s National League Cup, Halifax and Huddersfield Town edged seven-goal thrillers.

Newcastle knocked out holders Nottingham Forest, Georgia Gibson and Amber Keegan-Stobbs on target in the first half, Kacie Elson completing the scoring at the end.

Halifax conceded two late goals to Leeds United’s Jessica Rousseau and had Isobel Dean dismissed in the 90th minute but progressed 4-3 past their Yorkshire rivals.

Feiruz Abdullahi bagged a brace as Huddersfield edged West Brom 4-3 away, Fylde saw off Durham Cestria 4-2 with a Ginny Lackey hat-trick, Alisha Clarke-Mainwaring pulled two goals back but was sent off in added time.

Hashtag United eliminated Rugby Borough 2-1 with Hayley West’s 90th-minute finish, Portsmouth got the only goal at MK Dons through Emma Jones with 15 a quarter of an hour left, London Bees beat Norwich City 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals.

Derby went through 5-2 at Northampton Town, with Rams’ club captain Hannah Ward making her 300th appearance.

Barnsley WFC beat Sheffield FC 4-0, set up by Brooke Marsden’s first-half double, Hope Knight struck three times as Hull City hit hosts FC United for six.

Exeter City scored twice in the latter stages to defeat London Seaward, Cambridge United beat Keynsham Town with a Ruth Fox goal in extra time.

Peterborough United scored the sole goal against Solihull Moors, Kier Perkins with the 85th-minute breakthrough that put the Posh a point behind leaders Loughborough Lightning.
