Newcastle United are in talks with KV Oostende about buying the Belgian club, reports The Athletic.

The Magpies are looking for partner clubs and are also keen on Standard Liege.

Representatives from Newcastle watched Oostende on Saturday but had run the rule over Standard Liege a day before.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been linked with the Versluys Arena club.

Oostende just got relegated from the Belgian top flight after a decade and are available for around £10 million.

The club’s owners Pacific Media Group are ready to listen to offers, and another Premier League club are also keen on Oostende.

Newcastle owners Public Investment Fund (PIF) are also talking to several other European clubs.

A multi-club ownership model will help move the Magpies to the next level.

Manchester City are currently under City Football Group alongside Girona, Melbourne City and New York City Football Club.

Players have moved between the CFG clubs and the model continues to benefit all of them.

Newcastle are looking to become the next Man City, and a multi-club ownership model will help speed up the process.

It remains to be seen whether the St James’ Park club will be able to acquire Oostende or move for Standard Liege.

Buying another club could potentially help them with the transfers of talented youngsters going forward.

Newcastle will be able to use a satellite club in the European Union as a place to nurture talents.

The players can then go ahead to earn enough points to gain a UK work permit.
