In a recent post on X, Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie mentioned that Newcastle United have identified Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi as a target. It has been stated that the Magpies are showing interest in the German talent as they look to bolster their attack in this summer transfer window.
Adeyemi enjoyed a productive campaign at the German club after he put in a series of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 23-year-old found the back of the net 12 times and earned nine assists in 39 matches for Borussia Dortmund last season across all fronts.
The Munich-born sensation did well to average 2.89 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. However, he only kept 39.1% of his attempts on target. Adeyemi even distributed the ball well in the opponent’s half as he completed 74.3% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via fbref.com).
Adeyemi’s current deal at Signal Iduna Park will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Adeyemi is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the eye to play a few inviting chances in the final third and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
The German sensation can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals but only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in Premier League football. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting a player of Adeyemi’s skill set this summer.
We can expect him to add more firepower to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s frontline. He is good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at St. James’ Park next season.
At 23, Adeyemi has the potential to be a future star in the Premier League. Therefore, it is only logical for the Magpies to snap him up in this summer transfer window. However, Howe has to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the talented wide player.
