In a recent tweet, journalist Joel Bland revealed that Newcastle United have set their sights on Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe. It has been stated that the Magpies are eager to seal a move for the English talent as they look to add more firepower to their attack this summer.

Smith Rowe’s Lack Of First Team Starts In North London This Season

Smith Rowe has struggled to earn regular playing opportunities at the North London club as he has often found himself on Mikel Arteta’s bench. The 23-year-old has only made 16 appearances for the Gunners this season, picking up one assist in the process across all competitions.

The English playmaker has made all of his appearances in Europe off the bench but has done well to average 1.0 shots and 0.7 key passes per 90 minutes in the UEFA Champions League. He has even been careful when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 87.2% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the North London club will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Magpies to snap him up on a cut-price deal in the summer.

Is Smith Rowe A Good Fit For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?

Smith Rowe is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can strike the ball relatively well from long range and can make some inviting chances for others around him when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the pitch.

The English sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a left-sided wide player or a box-to-box midfielder if needed. However, he has to find a way to earn more first-team starts if he wants to get his career back on track.

Smith Rowe will add more firepower to Newcastle‘s frontline. He would have a great chance of earning a regular starting spot in Eddie Howe’s first XI if the Magpies can get a deal done for him in this upcoming transfer window. All in all, Smith Rowe would be a good fit for Newcastle‘s needs as they look to build a strong squad for the new campaign.
