Newcastle United shot-stopper Karl Darlow attracted interest from Premier League sides this month but Hull City are still set to win the race for him, according to this morning’s report from Hull Live.
The 32-year-old is likely to be behind Nick Pope, Martin Dubravka and Loris Karius in the pecking order when Eddie Howe has the trio at his disposal, something that has freed up Darlow to make this temporary move away from St James’ Park.
However, he is still required tomorrow night for the Magpies’ Carabao Cup semi-final second leg tie against Southampton, though he will make the move to the MKM Stadium before the 11pm deadline according to Hull Live.

The same outlet has also confirmed Huddersfield Town’s interest in the experienced stopper, with Mark Fotheringham potentially on the prowl for a new keeper before the end of the month following Lee Nicholls’ injury setback.
However, the Tigers have managed to beat the Terriers to Darlow’s signature with Liam Rosenior’s side also fending off interest from the English top tier to bring in the Newcastle man as a replacement for the injured Nathan Baxter.
at some point, though they would need to fork out a fee for him.
The Verdict:
There are no guarantees that he would have started for a top-tier side if he remained at the highest level so his decision to come to Hull is probably a good one.
However, it remains to be seen whether he can continue to fend off Matt Ingram to secure a starting spot throughout his stay at the MKM Stadium, though this competition could help him to maximise his performance levels.
He probably wouldn’t have that level of competition at Huddersfield and that may not be good for him considering he may need to take time to regain his sharpness. Nicholls was a huge figure for the Terriers before his injury, so there would have been a lot of pressure on Darlow to come in and be a real asset straight away.
This is another reason why Hull may be the best destination for him at this stage – and it’s not as if he needs to drag the Tigers out of the relegation zone with Rosenior already making a decent start to life at the club before the stopper’s likely arrival.
That should help the 32-year-old to relax, something that will only help his performance levels.
