Newcastle United have watched Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen closely in the last few weeks, and could make a move for the highly-talented winger in the January transfer window.

Reports indicate that the Magpies will face competition from another Premier League side for the winger.

According to Football League World, Newcastle United are one of the two Premier League sides that have looked at him lately, with the other being Norwich City.

Both sides could make a move for the Hull winger who has been in sensational form this season. The 22-year-old was signed by current Newcastle manager Steve Bruce when he was the manager their manager.

Bowen has already got 15 goals in all competitions this season, 14 of which have come in the Championship. He is just one goal behind the Championship’s top-scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The 22-year old could eclipse his goal tally from last season, where he scored 22 goals in 46 games. He has 53 goals in 110 appearances for Hull City, which is a remarkable output for a wide player.

Is Jarrod Bowen the attacker Newcastle United need?

Newcastle United’s attackers have been goal-shy this season, with a bulk of their goals coming from midfielders and defenders.

Of the 17 goals scored by the Magpies in the league this season, only two have come from attackers – one goal from striker Joelinton and the other from wide-man Allan Saint-Maximin. This will be a worrying statistic for manager Steve Bruce.

Bowen could be one of the solutions for the lack of goals that exist in the Newcastle attack. The 22-year-old is a left-footed winger, who can also play on the left or as a centre-forward.

He is a very good finisher and has a wand of a left foot. He likes to take on defenders, cutting in from his right-hand side position to move into central areas, and take shots on goal. He averages 3.8 shots per game in the league, which shows that he is often keen on taking a shot on goal.

He is a hard-working player who offers something in defence, dropping back to help his defenders.

Bowen could be a good option on the Newcastle United right side in place of Miguel Almiron, or even play as a centre-forward or second striker. He has an eye for goal, which is what Newcastle United desperately need to progress further under Bruce.
